Dr Sunil Shroff, MD, Mohan Foundation, talks about a workshop organised by the foundation to educate doctors and paramedics on how to use social media for a cause.
What is the need for such a workshop?
Most doctors and paramedics do not know how to use social media to create awareness on organ donation. Educating public on the importance of organ donation is the need of the hour because there are a number of challenges involved in that aspect. Therefore, using social media will help us reach out to a larger section of the society.
What will the workshop involve?
The workshop that will be held on Saturday, will have experts training doctors, nurses, paramedics and the like on how to use platforms like Twitter and Facebook to promote organ donation. We will teach them how to create an account, what they should know about the platform, how to use hashtags, how to retweet, forward posts and comment. Besides, we will also be conducting exercises on how to update a status, how to bust myths on organ donation, tag posts and go live.
