There is a common perception among the general public that reporters are extremely powerful and can get anything done. While it is usually ego boosting to hear it from people, sometimes it gets a little too far.
The scribe made it clear that there is no guarantee to get a job just because a news appears in a daily. However, he refused to believe it and went to an employment exchange along with the news clipping. He asked the official to take action based on the report published in the newspaper.
When the reporter thought that the issue had been solved, an official in the employment exchange got in touch over phone and told the reporter that though the story was good, many persons had come to his office and demanded jobs after reading the report.
This reporter had a hard time persuading the official that he had just done his duty as a reporter and could not be held responsible for the repercussions.
