Most would take Chennai Port Trust (CPT) to be a place of strict business, but only those who enter the building know that it is also a favoured selfie destination.
Since the main building is situated near the Bay of Bengal, the nine –storey structure attracts many passers-by on Rajaji Salai. While there is a steady stream of visitors who visit CPT daily for official purposes, there are also others who make the best use of the view of the Bay of Bengal from the upper floors of the building – that includes this correspondent. As this reporter went to meet CPT chairman in the afternoon, he opted for the stairs and realised that the windows offered a beautiful view of the bay and ships. The correspondent also noticed a gathering of people at a few of the floors in which all of them were jostling – with phones in their hands -- to find the perfect selfie point.
At lunch time, even a few CPT staff came up to the window to enjoy the view while one of them tried taking a selfie. The correspondent heard the staff discussing how they enjoy watching sunsets from the spot while another added that he has also seen the sun rise from the window while he was preparing for an official event early in the morning.
Thus, CPT turned out to be one of those places that offer a “window” of opportunity to both employees and visitors to take a break from work and click a selfie.
