Stating that vehicles parked there take up most of the road space, a commuter said that it becomes a challenge to drive through the area. “Many of us use the road to reach our workplace. Recently, I noticed that railings were erected to stop people from parking their vehicles on the footpath. This effort is wasted because cars and autos now park their vehicles on the road. The situation is worse in peak hours. Action should be taken to make sure the vehicles are not parked on the road.”
Jayaram V, whose office is in Egmore said, “We have been facing these traffic issues. Adding to this, the platform was also extended, making the road even smaller. The road was recently dug up for metro water and EB works. It has now been re-laid, but the quality is not up to the mark. In the last one week, the road was dug in two places.”
An official said as an alternative, vehicles can be parked near Rajarathinam Stadium. “The road is narrow and parking there will cause inconvenience. However, we will look into the issue of roads being dug up,” he said.
