Actress Nithya Menen in an earlier interview to DT Next said that she was all set to shoot for late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s biopic that will be helmed by Mysskin’s associate Priyadarshini. On Sunday, the director of the biopic in a statement said that the film spans over six decades and will cover the entire life of Jayalalithaa.
“We believed that Nithya Menen fit the bill to play Amma. She not only resembles the leader, but also has similar traits that Jayalalithaa exhibited during her tenure as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. A few striking similarities are, Nithya too could speak six languages fluently just the way Amma did. They both are proficient in Bharathnatyam and Carnatic
music since childhood,” she said.
According to Priyadarshini, biopic is one of the most challenging genres for a director. It demands a huge effort and meticulous planning. “Sir Richard Attenborough spent 18 years to come up with the biopic of Mahatma Gandhi. I strongly believe that such preparations and execution are what is needed for a biopic to look authentic,” she concluded.
