The foundation was operational as a Mumbai chapter in 2012 and enables the journey of entrepreneurs regarding growth and challenges. Since its launch, the Foundation has selected over 500 entrepreneurs as members who are part of 40 operational Trust Groups.
The composition of these members is diverse with a 47:53 split between manufacturing and services industries; 44% family businesses; 10% women entrepreneurs and about 65+ diverse industries represented. The aggregate annual revenue of the members exceeds Rs 22,000 crores with individual member turnover ranging from Rs 1 crore to overRs 2,000 crore.
Speaking to DTNext, Mariwala said, “The Foundation was born from my need to give back to society and entrepreneurs in general. Its aim is to help entrepreneurs garner a 360 degree perspective on challenges faced in their day to day operations and find suitable solutions, through their peer-networks, as facilitated through the foundation. With regular ‘health check-ups’ that help these businessmen discover blind-spots in their enterprises, the Foundation hopes to be a catalyst for growth and progress.”
The Foundation spread its wings in Chennai last August. While the Mumbai Chapter has 450 members from Mumbai, Pune and Nashik, the city chapter currently has 50 members, from Chennai and neighbouring towns like Mahabalipuram Erode, Madurai andCoimbatore.
The Foundation creates a Trust Group of non-competing entrepreneurs. Each group comprises 10-12 entrepreneurs, from diverse, non-competing industries. The key activity of these Groups is mentoring entrepreneurs and creating an environment wherein they grow through the cross-pollination of ideas andexperiences.
