Woman’s fingers freeze after non-stop week-long cellphone use
This Chinese woman took mobile phone addiction to a whole new level. Hailing from the city of Changsha in Hunan province, the young lady took a day off from her work and spent the whole day twiddling with her phone. She continued the exercise for a week after which her fingers were reportedly paralysed. She began experiencing severe pain in her right hand and found that her fingers had froze in the ‘smartphone-holding’ position.
Doctors identified this case as ‘tenosynovitis’ – an inflammation of the fluid-filled sheath surrounding a tendon, caused by repeating the same motion day after day. So the next time someone yells at you to take a break from fidgeting with your phone, take them seriously.
