We have visited a lot of countries and recently we travelled to two beautiful Egyptian towns — Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada. Sharm El Sheikh is a city on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, in South Sinai Governorate, Egypt, on the coastal strip along the Red Sea. Hurghada is another town along the Red Sea coast. You can easily relax and unwind at these towns.
One interesting aspect I came to know about Sharm El Sheikh is that the place was uninhabited before but gained attention because of its strategic location commanding the narrow entrance to the Gulf of Aqaba.
The development of the area as a tourist site began under the Israeli administration.
Known for its sandy beaches, clear waters and coral reefs, the town became a favourite spot for scuba divers from around the world.
The old town of Hurghada, El Dahar, is home to traditional Egyptian coffee shops and souks. You can pick up a variety of local goods — from spices and painted papyrus to Alabaster figurines.
I am a big foodie and while travelling I make sure to explore the local food. Lebanese food is my favourite cuisine and I enjoy tasting it from local shops. You’ll get authentic traditional dishes from these shops. Baklava, which is made of layered filo pastry filled with nuts, is my favourite dessert. The locals are very friendly and are known for their hospitality. They show the city around and take us to various interesting hangout spots.
I am a huge fan of water sports. So, during my stay at Hurghada I didn’t miss a chance to explore the beauty of underwater world. This is also another way to meet tourists from other countries. Too much holidaying is harmful to me. I am a workaholic and I feel homesick if I stay at a place for more than a week. Towards the last leg of our trip to Egypt, I was feeling very uncomfortable. I was constantly checking my return tickets to India.
Next on my travel list is a trip to Cancún, a Mexican city bordering the Caribbean sea. I’ve heard amazing things about this place and I am looking forward to a quick visit later this year.
