Video of ants forming a bridge drives home point of unity in netizens
The oft-heard adage, ‘United we stand, divided we fall’ was driven the point home in netizens’ minds by a video showing an otherwise unexpected source of hard-working creatures: ants. Shared recently by Police Inspector General Swati Lakra, the 14-second video shows several small red ants on a railing trying to form a bridge to make other ants pass through. Captioned ‘#TeamEffort United we stand’, it has garnered over 5,000 likes and several comments on social media. While many felt the ants’ act symbolised team work, there were others too, with comments like, “Some work hard while others just pass through them.” It needs no saying of the ants’ weight-bearing capabilities, with research suggesting that the neck joint of a common field ant can withstand 5,000 times the creature’s weight.
