The name fuljar, is derived possibly from the words full and jar, referring to an overflowing glass of soda. The spicy and tangy concoction uses mint leaves, ginger, poppy seeds, lemon, salt and green chillies — blended into a liquid using water. This mixture can also be flavoured using honey and cinnamon to add a sweet touch to the drink.
Instagrammers, particularly, seem to be loving this soda for all the drama it comes with while they make a video of themselves drinking it. To beat the heat, one can also add in some soaked basil seeds, which are a great addition to this thirst quencher. We bring you a quick recipe so you don’t miss out on recreating this fun and viral drink. You can take it to the next level by adding some watermelon or orange juice for a flavoured fuljar soda.
- Take a shot glass or a tumbler and squeeze the lime. Crush the ginger, chillies, mint leaves and cinnamon in a mortar or a blender.
- Add the spice mixture and sugar syrup to the lime juice, along with some soaked basil seeds. Now add, about half teaspoon of salt and avoid mixing.
- Fill a large glass up to three-quarters with chilled soda. Immerse the glass of lime mixture in the soda. Enjoy the fizz while you sip on it.
