With pollution and dryness in the air, lips tend to feel chapped and develop cracks, irrespective of the season.
Instead of smearing chemical-filled products onto your lips, simple ingredients can yield you luscious lip products that will truly care for your lips. Here are some quick recipes that can help you create your own lip products at home.
DIY lip balm
You don’t have to splurge hundreds of rupees on a lip balm each month. With an easy mix of coconut oil, honey and bee wax, you’ve got yourself the purest lip balm you can give your lips. Use a boiler to melt down the beeswax, and add in the coconut oil and honey. You can add in two capsules of vitamin E oil for the extra nourishment. Let the mixture cool down, then transfer into a tin or old lip balm container. You can add a teaspoon of beetroot powder for giving a natural redness to your lips.
Lipsticks are a favourite of almost every woman. The amount of toxic chemicals that are loaded into these products, however, is worrisome. Instead, making your own lipsticks at home can be lighter on your pockets while also being nourishing for your lips. Take a couple of teaspoons of coconut oil, one teaspoon of beeswax and one teaspoon of shea butter. Mix the ingredients together over a water boiler and add in essential oils or colourants like beetroot powder or cocoa powder of your choice. Cool the mixture down and transfer to a glass jar.
Tinted lip gloss
Did you know that all it takes to make a great lip gloss is Vaseline and some unused blush powder from your makeup kit? Take some Vaseline into a bowl and add some blush powder of your favourite colour. Stir the mixture well and transfer into a tiny glass jar and dab it onto your lips whenever they need some moisture or colour. You can also use face powders instead of blush for the mix.
