Before shifting to Chennai two years ago, Renuka Praveen used to get her lashes done at a salon in the UK. While living there, she observed that eyelash extensions are common and people aren’t apprehensive of getting artificial lashes done.
“After completing the course, I was doing lash extensions as a freelancer. But after a point, a lot of people started approaching me and I decided to open a studio to cater to the needs,” says Renuka.
The entrepreneur was surprised to see the number of inquiries she has been receiving after opening the studio. “I was surprised to see the kind of response for the lash studio. People love to experiment with the looks and it’s really a welcoming change. There are a lot of myths around lash extensions and people come to me with many doubts. Most of the women are concerned if the mascara would be smudged and will be cautious about it. That’s where eyelash extensions step in — your eyes will stand out on its own,” shares the certified lash technician. Renuka, who gets all the products imported from London, says that the process of sticking lashes on to the natural lashes, needs a lot of concentration and patience. “We offer lash lifts, curls and lash extensions. Once you have got the lash extensions, you have to get the infills done once in every three weeks,” says Renuka. Her clientele includes women belonging to all age groups.
