New-age brides and grooms are choosing sneakers for a fuss-free, comfy wedding.
A couple of months ago, stylist Rhea Kapoor opted for a pair of sneakers to go with her all-white lehenga look during her sister Sonam Kapoor’s sangeet ceremony. It’s not the first time Rhea wore sneakers at a family wedding. She wore them at cousin Mohit Marwah’s wedding as well.
City-based stylist Tanitha Pereira completely loved Deepika’s look for the reception. “What she wore was a stunning dress and a great pair of stilettos. But personally, I didn’t like it when she traded the heels for sneakers. They were so loud and it took away the details of the dress,” she rues.
Many youngsters are spotted pairing their traditional outfits with shoes. The right kind of shoes can complement anything from saree to a gown. “You can wear sneakers under lehengas because the outfit would cover the bride’s feet. But for certain wedding outfits where your feet are visible, it would be good to opt for something classic. However, some brides feel heels aren’t the best thing when you have to mingle around. At the end of the day, it depends on the comfort of the bride and the groom to wear what they feel like,” adds Tanitha.
FunctionMania, an event planning portal, suggests some pros in wearing a gorgeous pair of sneakers. They make you look the coolest, add an effortless swag to your wedding look, and there is no fear of tripping in flat-soled sneakers, unlike it is with a pair of high heels worn by brides. Instead of the boring white sneakers, you can try out these bridal sneakers — LED lit bridal sneakers, blush pink sneakers with pastel floral prints and embellished sneakers.
Well, there aren’t any rules when it comes to a wedding outfit, but lehenga-sneaker combo makes perfect sense. Bride-to-be’s from the city can take a cue from Deepika and Rhea and try out this combo for their wedding.
