What is a house without cushions? This is true of your bedrooms as well. You can choose cushions of various shapes and sizes. Use pastel covers to enhance the springy summer feel. Place some large cushions on the cotton carpet on the floor. Pile up more of them on your bed and enjoy endless conversations with friends.
Welcome summer by doing little spring cleaning. Clear out unwanted papers, files, books and all the unwanted knickknacks from the room. Keep only the books you are going to read this summer near the bed. Bring in your flower vases and fill them with fresh flowers. You can use old perfume bottles or used cans.
Go light, is the mantra. Anything heavy, such as your thick carpets, should be taken away from your bedroom. Remove the heavy comforters, pack them in bags and store them away in your loft. Switch to cotton. It’s good for your skin as it allows it to breath. It’s also great for your interiors.
Floral designs and delicate stripes are the trending this season. Mint and lime are all the rage now. Any light colour is a good option, since dark and bright shades would trap and retain the heat, making your room hotter than it needs to be. Your bedspreads and bed sheets should ideally be washed every week, with a light detergent, and dried in shade.
Curtains are the hero of your room. Whenever one enters the room, the eyes are naturally drawn to a window and thereby the curtains. Let the prints match the bed linen. Or you can use your old sarees and drape them on your curtain rods. Or you can try the effect of two curtains, in contrasting shades and layer them. The overall effect would be one of calm ambience.
