With most of the AIAMDK MLAs put up at Golden Bay resort for nearly a week during the tug of war between VK Sasikala and O Pannerselvam, the former councillors from the party who did not want to be left behind, had a hard time deciding their own future.
Every day, several former councillors waited outside the gates of the resort trying to get in touch with their MLAs or even to catch a glimpse of them to see what they were doing within the walls of the luxury resort. Around 150 of them even checked into a hotel two km away from Golden Bay resort for a week, contemplating how to reach out to their MLA to see what they had decided.
Former councillor MA Murthy of Ward 178, Velachery said, “I was waiting outside the resort everyday trying to figure out what was going on inside.” Although they were unreachable, Murthy and others kept up their vigil. “All we wanted was just to see them and talk for few minutes,” said another councillor.
“All I got was a glimpse of MLA Sathyanarayanan walking inside the resort in a track suit. He was on his regular walk, while hundreds were waiting outside to hear from him,” said Murthy.
Sources said the only time the visibility of the MLAs outside Golden Bay increased was when a few ambulances rushed into the resort during this period. — Naomi N, Chennai
