Founded by Shiv Gupta (DJ Shiva Moon), DJ Tuhin Mehta and Hema Sethuraman, the festival has evolved itself from being just a beach festival at Fisherman’s Cove to one of the premier music festivals in the city.
“The festival has grown substantially over the last nine years to become a two day event that electronic music fans from Chennai and across the country love to attend every year. We always have a strong focus on putting together a quality event, with great production and good sound and lights. The festival is at a new venue this year, so the feel will be completely different. We also have a variety of popular restaurants from Chennai taking care of the food at the festival. Pioneer, one of our sponsors, will also be having a stall focusing on the latest DJ products, besides smaller stalls selling jewellery, trinkets, party props and face painting,” says one of the organisers of the festival. Almost all the artistes will be presenting fresh tracks produced especially for the festival or songs from upcoming or new albums.
Henning Richter, the techno music producer from Berlin, is touring the country for the first time. Stiv Hey, the well-known ‘Techno Champagne’ music producer from Milan is working on a new series, Memories and may debut the first song from the series. He also released a new single, Bang Bang, recently, in collaboration with Soupherb Records.
The Bulgarian artiste Kliment Dichev will present his unique psychedelic trance performance which combines with 3D video mapping projection techniques. He recently released a downtempo electronica track in collaboration with Mikhail Stoyanov and is currently working on a new project.
With 35 artistes in the line-up this year, some of the prominent Indian artistes to look out for this edition are Ash Roy, Adam Rahman, Arjun Hora, BLOT, Boombay Central, Calm Chor, Shiva Moon, Stalvart John and Sleepwalker.
