Thrown open by Kamal Haasan, the massive studio with five huge air-conditioned floors puts Chennai in the map on a par with the best in the world, according to its owners. Isaignani Ilayaraja lit the auspicious lamp and stressed on the importance of studios in order to attract international attention.
Speaking at the event, Kamal said, “Studios have always been my second home. My heart bled to see closure of many studios, which were once the pride of South Indian film Industry. Gopalan’s service to the film industry with this studio will be remembered.”
The other dignitaries who graced the launch included actor and Producers Council’s president Vishal, Nadigar Sangam president Nasser, directors Vikraman, South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce president L Suresh and FEFSI president Selvamani among others.
